26 Sep **TECHNOLOGICAL INNOVATION – FROM OPERATIONAL CHALLENGES TO AUTOMATED MECHANICAL SOLUTION**
In an industrial manufacturing environment, the efficiency of a process is evaluated not only by speed, but also by its ability to control risks, reduce reliance on manual operations, and maintain operational stability.
At the Heineken Vung Tau Brewery, the process of handling cans containing residue was previously performed using a manual piercing method. This approach required workers to handle each can individually, leading to extended processing times, high labor consumption, and potential safety risks during operation.
To address these practical requirements, Innovative Steel Solutions JSC (ISS) researched and developed a specialized mechanical solution: a hydraulic lift table integrated with a sliding mechanism, designed to replace manual operations with a controlled force generation process.
The key highlight of this equipment lies not merely in generating high compaction force, but in how the hydraulic mechanism and sliding system work in tandem to convert force into stable pressing motion, making the treatment process faster and more consistent.
⚙️ DESIGN AND TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS
🔹 Overall dimensions: 700 × 1,000 × 1,100 mm (Width × Length × Height), compactly designed to suit floor space conditions and operational areas within the factory.
🔹 Force generation mechanism: Uses a 12-ton hydraulic cylinder combined with a sliding mechanism to deliver focused and stable pressing force during operation.
🔹 Operating principle: Residue-containing cans are positioned on the worktable; when the hydraulic system is activated, the cylinder generates pressing force through the sliding mechanism to execute the piercing/puncturing stage quickly and in a controlled manner.
🔹 Design orientation: Optimizes operations, reduces reliance on manual labor, and enhances safety levels during equipment operation.
💡 FROM MECHANICAL IMPROVEMENT TO OPERATIONAL VALUE
Replacing a manual operation with a hydraulic mechanism is not merely a change in operational methods. This is a process improvement based on mechanization, where applied force, stroke, and equipment motion are controlled rather than depending entirely on manual labor.
The solution implemented by ISS delivers practical value to production operations:
✅ Eliminates manual piercing operations, thereby significantly reducing the risk of injury during processing.
✅ Shortens cycle times, enhancing throughput capacity compared to manual methods.
✅ Reduces direct labor reliance, allowing for a more efficient reallocation of human resources toward high-value-added stages.
✅ Standardizes operating procedures, driving stability and consistency across every working cycle.
Starting from a highly specific requirement on the production line, ISS approached the challenge through a structured workflow: engineering the problem – analyzing principles – designing mechanisms – fabricating and perfecting the equipment. This transformed a manual task into a mechanical solution that offers superior control over productivity, safety, and operational efficiency.
This reflects the core philosophy that ISS pursues across all mechanical equipment design, fabrication, and industrial automation solution projects: moving beyond merely fabricating parts to drawings, and actively collaborating with clients to engineer tailored technical solutions for each factory’s real-world operational challenges.
